Bechamel Margarine. You'll want a consistency similar to hazelnut cream (because it's important that the flour is well toasted to give off more flavor). Béchamel is a basic white sauce that can be used as a base for many other sauces.

In a small saucepan melt butter (do not let brown).
If you need this to be dairy free, I strongly recommend making it with the best vegan butter substitute you can find.
You can adjust the milk measurements for a thicker or thinner sauce by adding less or more to your liking. Add the butter to the saucepan. Bechamel Sauce is one of my favorites.
